Church School Links

The school works closely with St Michael's Church, and we visit the church or new church centre regularly throughout the year. Visits include Christmas, Easter, Harvest and Leavers' services. On this page you can see pictures of some of these activities. Many of our children also attend the regular 'Messy Church' sessions held at the Old School Rooms.

Please see the document below for further information on our close relationship with St Michael's Church and the many ways we work together.

Leavers' Service

At the end of each year, the church puts on a special day for the children in year 6. In the morning they come to the church rooms and rotate around three activities relating to the past, present and future: thinking about their time at St Michael's, having fun and games with the youth team, and writing prayers to give God their worries about the changes they face.  There is a break for snacks, on the green if it is sunny, halfway through the morning.

In the afternoon there is the church service. The church centre is decorated with the artwork from the morning. There are songs accompanied by dances, flags and streamers; a talk; and the children's prayers; all of which create a colourful and enjoyable service to which all parents are of course invited.

Messy Church

Messy Church takes place on the first term time Wednesday of each month. Many children from the school attend and enjoy an hour of craft activities, a short church service and a delicious meal.

Church Visits

  • Year 5 children visit the church every year for an Easter Experience where they have activities that help them to understand the with the different parts of the Easter Story. Year 5 also lead a wonderful harvest service for parents in the new St Michael's Church Centre.Year 4 enjoy The Christmas Experience which is held for them each year in St Michael's church. Church members explain the different parts of the nativity and lead activities that help the children to understand and engage with the story.
  • Year 2 children enjoy using the church for their Christmas Carol Services.
  • Year 1 visit St Michael's Church to learn about the things inside the church and what they are used for.
