Recovery Curriculum
We are planning for the return of all children in September. There are a number of issues for us to build into the curriculum, particularly in the first few weeks. These include:
- Recognising children's social and emotional needs (particularly for children who have been out of school for almost 6 months)
- Identifying gaps in learning
- Rebuilding resilience in learning and re-establishing routines
- Supporting children who find it hard to cope with coming back. This may exhibit itself in challenging behaviour
In order to address these needs, we are putting in place a 'recovery curriculum' See below for more details

Catch-up funding
The government has also promised additional catch-up funding for schools to support children over the coming months. Once details of this have become clearer, we will ensure we use the funds to support children as needed. A key part of that process will be to identify that need in the first few weeks of term.
